Working from Home
Woman's Guide to
Becoming a work-at-home-mom, can be a wonderful solution for mothers that want to stay at
home with their children but cannot afford to quit their jobs.  Working from home allows moms
the flexibility of caring for their children while still being able to contribute to the family finances.
However many moms jump into being a wahm, without doing their homework, about the
company they are joining.  Some moms underestimate the amount of effort, motivation and
discipline it takes to work from home.   Working from home or starting a home-based business
will not always be easy but it can be rewarding for those mother’s that know what they are
getting into and are prepared to work it.  There are many women out there looking for an easy
way to make money at home,  but they have to realize that when you are working from home
you, have to overcome a new and different set of challenges from working outside the home.  If
you are thinking of starting a home-based business or working from home, here are some
questions you need to answer to keep you on track.
1.        What do you enjoy doing?  Sit down and think about what you love to do.  Write down
your top 3 things then start researching to find information on doing those things from home for
income.  If your at-home-job is something you enjoy, then you will want to work at it.  Remember:
you will make time to do something you love.

2.        Is the company you are joining legitimate?  Does the company expect you to buy
products or keep inventory in your home?  Be wary if they want you to pay to join their
company.  There are some companies out there that require you to buy a starter pack or
something, be careful and do your research on the company and their products. Don’t forget to
find out how they will be paying you.

3.        Where will you be doing the actual work?  Do you have an office, or do you need to set
aside some space in another room as your office?  You will not be successful or organized if
you are constantly having to work in a different room each time you “go to work”

4.        What materials will you need to start working from home?  You do not need to go
overboard and buy tons of “sticky” notes and pens.  Write down what you will need in the
beginning.  Do you need an internet connection? A phone? Find out what you need and be
creative in deciding how to get those things.  Maybe you need to go to a friend’s house once a
week to enter orders on the internet.  Do not sink too much money into your business or w-a-h
job, until you are making money to put into it.

5.        What goals do you want to accomplish each month, week, day.

6.        How many hours will you need to work each day to accomplish those goals?

7.        What time of day is best for you to work?  Try to keep your schedule, work time is work
time and family time is family time. When will you have time for you? Time to relax and unwind?

Working from home can definitely be rewarding in the sense that you are able to care for your
kids while contributing to your family’s financial situation.  Make sure that you are not wasting
your time, energy and money on a biz that is not going to benefit you and your family.
